Horizon developer stated that PS3 processors are much more powerful than modern Intel processors
Sony has always been a source of pride for the PS3 and its technical specifications, but these specifications made the company offer the device at an exaggerated price that shocked many players, and the biggest problem did not stop at this point, but the developers suffered from problems because of the difficulty of development, which led to the superiority of the competitor Xbox 360 in the previous generation.
With the release of the PlayStation 5 approaching, the developer Horizon loved to reminisce a little bit, recalling the PlayStation 3, as Michiel van der Leeuw, technical director of the Guerrilla Games team, praised the Cell processor used in PlayStation 3, saying it was very powerful.
He stated, adding that the Intel's fastest processors currently do not reach the level of the Playstation 3 processor, explaining that the difficulty was in how to extract power from this processor as there was no accurate and correct control of the balance of its performance, which caused difficulty in using it.
Despite that, Michiel, the PlayStation 3 processor, is premature and revolutionary, and it works in a way that follows the same approach as the current graphics card mechanism. As for the problems that the developers were experiencing with this therapist, Michiel explained that the teams had to write a lot of codes and sometimes rewrite the codes for the different nuclei and this eventually required a lot of work and effort and he needed a talented team to work on them.
This has prompted Sony problems with its current Playstation 4 device to abandon that processor and move to the Jaguar processor that depends on the structure of x86, which facilitated a lot on the developers and made the process of developing games easier and less complicated, and it will follow the same approach as it appears with the Playstation 5.
